A PILOT BRIEFING AREA

This year we presented a way to introduce our program to the children and their parents by using a "Pilot Briefing Area".

During this pilot brief we bring about 15 children at a time to one of our planes and teach them what the different parts of the plane are used for - have them really touch the plane, move the joystick, check out the tires, etc.. They ask and answer questions and really have a good 10 minute discussion about the planes and what they will be doing on the field. We also relate safety inspections to be important to the child's normal mode of transportation - their bicycles and tricycles - where we discuss the importance of checking tires and all moving parts.

The preflight inspections by the children have greatly improved and we have much more interaction between the parents and children.
